Top 10 Useful Things You Need to Know for Applying Cambodia e-Visa

All citizens who do not hold Cambodian passport need to apply visa to enter Cambodia. Besides applying Visa by stamped on your passport at the Cambodia Embassy in your country or on Arrival, you can also apply e-Visa offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Please be noted that e-Visa is for single entry only.

If you wish to apply Cambodian e-Visa, we sincerely suggest you to apply through the official website to avoid any problems arisen from some fraudulent websites which pretend to be the official one.

In August 15th, 2014, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation released a Press Release informed the new official website for Cambodian e-Visa. The official website “www.evisa.gov.kh” effectively launched on August 19th, 2014.

Checkpoints that support e-Visa

You have to check before you apply e-Visa since not all border checkpoints support e-Visa.

The available entry checkpoints are:

  • Phnom Penh International Airport
  • Siem Reap International Airport
  • Cham Yeam (Koh Kong Province)
  • Poi Pet (Banteay Meanchey Province), and
  • Bavet (Svay Rieng Province).

If you happen to enter at the checkpoint that does not support e-Visa, please use other supported entry or contact your nearest embassy for more information.

e-Visa available only for tourist visa

If you wish to apply for Business Visa, K-Visa and Diplomatic Visa, you have to contact the nearest Cambodia Embassy since these forms of visa will need to apply via normal process.

Countries which do not support with e-Visa

Even though e-Visa is available in Cambodia, some countries are not available for applying e-visa.

The unavailable countries are:

  • Afghanistan
  • Algeria
  • Bangladesh
  • Iran
  • Iraq
  • Nigeria
  • Pakistan
  • Arab Saudi
  • Sri Lanka, and
  • Sudan

If you were in these countries, you have to apply your visa from your nearest embassy or on-arrival at all major checkpoints.

e-Visa fee

In according with the Press Release dated August 15th, 2014, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the new e-Visa fee is a total of 37US$ (30US$ is visa fee + 7US$ is processing fee).

This new fee is put into effect from October 1st, 2014.

Required documents

You will need a validity passport of more than 06 (six) months balance at time of entry, a recent passport-size photo in JPEG or PNG or BMP format (photo must be less than 1MB), and a valid credit card (Visa/Master Card).

The photo must meet the certain criteria as follow:

  • A full face, front view and open eyes;
  • Make sure photo presents full head from top of hair to shoulders;
  • Take the photo in a plain white or off-white background;
  • Avoid shadows on the face or background;
  • Face in photo should have a natural expression (closed mouth);
  • Photo should not include sunglass or hat;
  • The contrast and lighting in the photo should be normal.

After successfully applied the e-Visa, you will also have to print out 02 (two) copies (Black and White is ok, as long as it is clear) of the form. One copy will be submitted on arrival and another copy upon leaving the country.

The validity of the visa is 03 (three) months starting from the issued date. For the length of stay is 30 (thirty) days starting from the date of entry into Cambodia. However, you may get an extension.

Types of credit card that can be used to make the payment are Visa, MasterCard, American Express (USA only), Discover (USA only). Do remember that the payment of the application fee does not guarantee approval of a visa. In case the application is not being approved, the processing fee will not be refunded.
